UCI World Cup 2 Manchester, England

Round 2 of the UCI SX World Cup was held over in Manchester, England at the British Cycling Indoor National Cycling Center. With Anthony Dean still recovering from his crash in Argentina, it was down to Dani George to fly the flag for the Team alongside representing Team USA in a bid to qualify for a spot on the US Women Olympic Team.

As always, it was a tight, technical track in Manchester with a short first straight not leaving much in terms of a margin of error. By the time racing was underway, the track had already claimed many top riders in both the Men’s and Women’s divisions.

Dani, still unfazed by the track, started off the weekend riding great, winning all of her qualifying heats on Saturday and backing it up with a handful of second place finishes going into the Semi Finals on Sunday. Heading down the first straight during the semi everything was looking good for Dani heading into the first turn in 3rd but she got ran high exiting the first turn resulting in having to ride the doubles out of the turn, ultimately loosing momentum and going over the bars on the ground.

Unfortunately, it looks like Dani has broke her collarbone and has also suffered a potential ankle injury, as she heads straight back to the US to get checked out and to start her road to recovery. Tough break for both literally and figuratively for Dani – for sure.

We would like to thank Team USA for taking great care of Dani during her time with the team for their great support both on and off the bike while out on the World Cup Tour. We’ll keep you posted on Dani’s recovery.
