This past week we ran another week of our BMX Pro for a Week Summer Camp in cooperation with the YMCA. Many of our kids haven’t ever ridden on a real BMX track and few have had a lot of bike time. It was cool to start at Level 1 (with bike safety, protective gear, basic riding skills) and move progressively into more technical skills. By the end of the week, our kids were ready to jump on the gate and race one another. It was great to see.
It occurred to our team that we are amongst the new generation of riders – just not fortunate enough to have access to either bikes or tracks. This camp was a great bridge for kids wanting to be connected to the BMX industry. We’re happy to do our part to get more kids exposed and more involved in the sport.
At the week’s end, our rider, Jesse, earned himself a new bike and gear for paying attention and giving each day his all. What a great experience it was for our entire team to partner with the Y. We look forward to seeing these guys/gals again at our Winter Session camps (dates to be announced soon).
